I book a break usually about 4 to 5 nights and I go looking for the Sun, Sea and great Food.
When I first told my better half about this tradition he laughed, why would I not want to spend it with family or friends but my argument with this was its the best time of the year to just go away and reflect and relax. Also I hated the fact that even though my birthday falls in July it was never great weather.
Anyway, so soon enough he jumped up on sharing this tradition with me and now we go away for his birthday too.
We decided to visit Valencia for a number of reasons, one the food is great, its less the two and half hours by flight from London, the weather was reasonably warm considering we went mid Janaury (I mean anything above 18 degrees is a good day). However above all we fell instantly in love with the Hotel Caro while we were researching.
No offence to all of you wonderful Airbnb users but I just love a turndown and room service.
Yes it is a luxury five star hotel but not like anything you would have ever seen before.
While the hotel was being built the developers had come across many historical artefacts which they have preserved and integrated into the hotel itself. At best I can describe it as staying in a Museum as such.
We stayed in Room 16 The Palace Kitchen located on the 3rd floor and overlooking the outside veranda where they have a bar and sitting area. As we went in off season it was very quite.
We took the tasting menu which consisted of around 7 to 8 dishes, each an explosion of flavour and taste.
So be ready to sit down and get comfy as the meal itself lasted for hours and we enjoyed every moment of it.
